SWITC

SWITC (Support with Interpreting, Translating and Communication) is an initiative funded Disability Services Queensland and aims to address the diverse communication needs of people accessing disability specific services.

Non-Government Organisations (NGO's) who have programs funded by Disability Services Queensland can use SWITC to enable their services to become accessible to their clients through the use of translators and interpreters.

Administered by Deaf Services Queensland, SWITC is the first program of its kind in Queensland and attends to a growing need to provide communication services across the state.

The SWITC program offers support to people who are:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders;

  • People from a culturally and linguistically diverse background (CALD) including Australian South Sea Islanders;

  • Deaf or hard of hearing people who use sign language as their primary mode of communication; and

  • Blind or visually impaired people who use Braille for written communication.
  • SWITC has recently introduced a new online booking system to process all interpreting and translation requests. To make a booking, please visit SWITC's new booking database via http://bookings.switc.org.au

    If at any time you have any questions or queries about the SWITC service, please do not hesitate to contact us on 3892 8559.
